When oh When will we see the spine that we should be seeing from the Democrats?
I mean, forgive my cynicism at this point, but in light of health care, this nightmare Supreme court ruling, and the reforms that we need to return to our financial industries and the non-stop abuse of the filibuster and obstruction tactics, they need to do something drastic. With that in mind, how many of you seen the segment on Rachel last night regarding ways to bypass the filibuster?
Is it time for the Democrats to play tough? Is it time to threaten, and yes absolutely use, the dreaded "nuclear option"? Now, I know what some of you will say, it would be political suicide for the senator that raises that "point of order". To which I ask, aren't several Senators retiring from politics anyway? We aren't going to be able to change the filibuster, that requires 2/3 of the Senate. So what is left, or what have they "left us" with?
But I just wanted to get a sense of how others in the progressive community felt about this topic. In light of all that is going on, should it be seriously considered and even threatened by the dems? Would the people, in your opinion, support the forcing of an "up or down vote" to use Republican's own words?
I will step first on that limb. Yes, let's bring this possible avenue out, and see what that does to the lock-step Republicans.
