Rep. Marsha Blackburn expressed reservations on Tuesday about her scheduled appearance at a national Tea Party Convention in Nashville next week, an event that other Tea Party groups are criticizing as too expensive.
"We've got it under review," Blackburn, R-Tenn., said Tuesday.
Ooooo..."We've got it under review" is such a nice way of putting it.
Translation: We're trying to think of a way of getting out of this, that doesn't involve saying "the dog ate my homework."
On the web site for the event, Marsha Blackburn is listed as a speaker and as the person who will introduce the Queen of Crazy -- Sarah Palin.
Blackburn also has asked the House ethics committee whether last week's Supreme Court ruling on campaign finance reform would make the convention inappropriate for a member of Congress to attend, spokesman Claude Chafin said. He said the request was made "out of an abundance of caution."
Oh. Of course it was. She is concerned that this will blow-up in her face, because of the shady dealings of the organizer of this event.
The little-known organizer is Judson Phillips, a self-described "small-town lawyer." He is a former assistant district attorney now in private practice, specializing in driving-under-the-influence and personal-injury cases. He is organizing the convention with his wife, Sherry, his sister-in-law, and a handful of other volunteers.
A background check of various public records databases raises questions about how he has handled money in the past. The search shows that Phillips filed for Chapter 7 personal bankruptcy in 1999 and during the past decade, he has had three federal tax liens against him, totaling more than $22,000.
Marsha Blackburn is a real piece of work. She's Tennessee's version of Sarah Palin or George W. Bush. She's arrogant, smarmy, stupid and proud of it.
Watch this great video where Al Gore doesn't let her get away with lying.
Here's a map where you can see her district in Tennessee...if you look up the word gerrymandering in the dictionary, there should be a picture of her district to show an example.
This is one of those maps where you use your mouse to move it around to see the whole map....and believe me....you hafta move it around A LOT to see all of her sprawling district.
