Continuing in my quest to bring a little more Kentucky to the Kos, I wanted to do a post exploring the Senate race for the soon retiring Jim Bunning's seat in the Senate.
In my last Diary entry, I showed you the two most prominent Republican candidates dueling it out in ads over which of the other was more "pro-Obama" or "pro-Clinton" and which is more "pro-coal".
This time, I want to Focus on the Democratic candidates running in the primaries which are coming up. For a complete listing of all the candidates, you can look HERE.
Here are the Democratic candidates:
- Jack Conway.
- Daniel Mongiardo.
- Darlene Fitzgarald.
- Maurice Sweeney.
- James Buckmaster.
So you can see what they are about. Mongiardo is on board for health reform, but is critical of the current legislation due to costs. Buckmaster is a conservadem nightmare. Both Mongiardo and Conway came out criticizing Bunning's latest blocking of unemployment benefits. And honestly, their names are the two currently best known throughout the state that I have found. Furthermore recent polling shows Mongiardo ahead of Conway, with the Republican candidates still leading.
But I think Bunning's bad behavior can be a plus.
I'll keep you guys updated to interesting developments that catch my eye.
Final Note: Besides whatever contributions or friend adds you make regarding the candidates above to your myspace or facebook or whatever, also consider helping with our local "unseat Hal Rogers (R-Ky, 5th Congressional) in support of a more progressive democratic candidate Jim Holbert, also facing primaries Here on May 18th. Any contributions are appreciated.
