and land trusts are not working in "cahoots" with goverment to take land away from from private land owners...
http://www.foxnews.com/...
Not that it's surprising that Fox News would peddle myth as fact, opinion as truth, and not allow a counter argument, but they really sink to a new low in this piece attacking the work of land trusts and conservation-minded citizens nationwide.
The piece implies that a 501(c)3 organization "sounds like some kind of retirement fund or something," when in fact, organizations like the Girl Scouts of America, the American Cancer Society, and Paralyzed Veteran's of America are generally highly regarded by the people of this country that are well-served by these organizations.
Land trusts operate on a purely volunteer basis and do important work in protecting natural resources and wildlife, preserving working farms, and maintaining green spaces for future generations to enjoy.
It was probably just an oversight by the producers of this show that there was no counter argument offered to that of the uber-conservative Heritage Foundation, but I'm sure they could contact any of the hundreds of land trusts nationwide to actually learn about the real work being done to protect our natural treasure.
