Harry Reid has a signed commitment from 52 Senators to pass the Senate Fix.
It will help make a bill worth passing, better.
Tom Harkin has promised to put forward a bill with a public option within the next year.
more below the fold:
It is a really good sign that Senator Mary Landrieu is supporting the Budget Reconciliation fix.
"It is now time to move this effort across the finish line. I look forward to the Senate's up-or-down vote this week to approve the House's target improvements to this historic legislation."
This comes after the Senate bill was passed.
This is a bill that will bring 95% of Americans to have health insurance, will save more than 100,000 lives, will preserve Medicare, and will make unethical practices of Health Insurance Companies illegal.
I believe that the Fix will pass the Senate.
This is an historic accomplishment and marks President Barack Obama as one of the best and most consequential presidents in our nation's history. As such, he will be remembered. And I believe that our economy is turning around. That combined with this huge win will restore enthusiasm to our party. That will help turn around polls and make November much more competitive. And by 2012, we should be in much better shape.
We have many things that we will want to improve. The fixes are a small part of the needed improvements, but this is a big step forward.
This bends the moral arc of the universe towards justice
Sixty-two percent of Hispanic adults ages 19 to 64—an estimated 15 million adults—were uninsured at some point during the year, a rate more than three times as high as that for white working-age adults (20%). Uninsured rates for working-age African-American adults are also high, with one-third (33%)—more than 6 million adults—uninsured or experiencing a gap in coverage during the year.
This is what President Obama said about the Reconciliation Fix :
Now as momentous as this day is, it's not the end of this journey. On Tuesday, the Senate will take up revisions to this legislation that the House has embraced, and these are revisions that have strengthened this law and removed provisions that had no place in it. Some have predicted another siege of parliamentary maneuvering in order to delay adoption of these improvements. I hope that's not the case. It's time to bring this debate to a close and begin the hard work of implementing this reform properly on behalf of the American people. This year, and in years to come, we have a solemn responsibility to do it right.
