This time of year these little shorebirds are getting their breeding plumage in preparation for their big trip to the arctic tundra. They leave here around April 12-14 and fly non-stop for two days to their breeding grounds above the Arctic Circle. Amazing.

They get a considerable percentage of their food by harassing other seabirds and stealing their catch. The word for the day is kleptoparasitism.
