Duh...however, THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS NOT FOR WORKING FAMILIES OR LABOR! DUH
This intra-party purging and purification is the most stupid fucking strategy since the Republicans thought of it earlier this year.
The anonymous Senior White House staffer was right, Labor flushed away $10 million of its members money unnecessarily.
I am on the record with previous diaries saying that Democrats should not be acting like Republicans in the context of purifying the party by trying to replace current Dems with so called "better" Dems. Its a very short-sighted and myopic strategy which puts the party in a position of taking two to three steps back, with no guarantee of taking ANY steps forward.
Now we have the intra-party fight in Arkansas, where we have a purple State, a sitting very middle of the road-to-moderate, arguably & sometimes conservative Senator Blanche Lincoln against another middle of the road, although slightly more progressive Democrat Bill Halter. Where labor groups spent a reported $10 million to teach Moderate and Blue Dog Democrats a very hard lesson.
Well how did that work out for ya?
Now I certainly didn't like the way Lincoln voted down the public option, and would not commit to card check and other progressive policy initiatives. However, I don't like how Republicans voted against them either and the idea of a Republican Senator from Arkansas replacing the DEMOCRATIC Senator from Arkansas will certainly not make things better.
So in my humble opinion the "principled" battle that labor fought IS a waste of money and is completely counter-productive to what working families need and stand for.
Right now there is anger at incumbency for elected officials, today there should also be anger at the incumbents in Big Labor who say they are standing up for working families, but have instead worked to move forward the election of the Republican Congressman Boozeman, who by this chart looks to be the overwhelming favorite this fall.
IMHO, This Democratic Fratricide Strategy if is Fucking Stupid!
UPDATED!!! I couldn't have written this any better. It makes my point that some Dems are behaving like the looney Right Fringe.
