Go ahead, call it yet another meta diary.
But the truth is that I'm sick of meta diaries.
Because I see the same damned shit, and the same characters that are busy driving wedges, trying to tear this community apart and ensure that nobody can have a civilized discussion here.
Keith Olbermann is but the latest to leave.
And yes, before anyone accuses me of being a hypocrite, I fully admit that at times, I've been part of the problem. My points in this particular diary stand.
And before you accuse me of attacking one side or the other, yes, I have my opinions, but here, I've got to make it clear that trollery I'm seeing comes from both sides of the pro-anti-Obama argument.
Both sides.
Don't think that the teabaggers aren't capable of at least low cunning. They've got Karl Rove and their ilk on their side.
The truth is that the trolls have their fingers in both sides of any major argument we have. The pro-anti-Obama argument is but one of them.
You'll have trolls screaming "YOU'RE A CHEERLEADER!" and trolls screaming "YOU'RE A HATER!" "YOU'RE ASKING FOR PONIES!" "WHY DON'T YOU CLAP LOUDER!"
They have but one goal. Keep us fighting. Keep the flame war alive.
And they're winning.
Is this what we want?
C'mon Kossacks, we've got to be smarter than them.
Don't take the bait. If someone insults you, calls you names, ask yourself if this will actually turn into a legitimate discussion at all, or whether you'll just be part of yet another flame war.
Consider using those donuts. If you've got them, use 'em. Yes, I've earned plenty of donuts myself. If anyone breaks the rules, give 'em a donut. If I break the rules, give me a donut. Use them within the rules, but the purpose of the hide-rate is to keep things civilized.
And really, do we want those meta-flamefests on our rec list? Don't recommend them, and if a diary turns into a flame fest, take your rec off. Encourage Kossacks to do something else.
Because I'm sick of fighting. It's getting us nowhere.
