It takes a lot for me to go - "whoa" - when Steve King opens his mouth.
But this time, he's crossed the line:
King accused Democrats of advancing the idea that only “Biblically-acceptable immigration policy is open borders.” King also cited Bible passages in his op-ed piece, including one from Deuteronomy which King said showed God is not neutral on the issue of securing the border.”
“I think he’s pitting neighbor against neighbor and this is just reprehensible what he has said in this article,” Campbell says.
This is offensive, has no place in American politics, and creates a sense of false fear.
Help me retire him.
As an Iowan and a Christian, I'm offended and so are many people I've talked to -- but more importantly, I'm offended that Steve King is trying to divide our country rather than working to make it strong.
This is not the first time King has tried to stoke this kind of fear and emotion on immigration reform. He has described reforming immigration to the "Holocaust" and accused one Congressman of trying to have his district "ceded…to Mexico." It's ridiculous - immigration needs fixing, but King doesn't have a plan to fix it.
All he has is a plan to try and scare people like you.
Don't let King get away with it - chip in $5 or more to my campaign and send him a message!
Iowa can't afford two more years of no ideas and fear mongering.
It's time to vote Steve King out of Congress - and restore common sense to Iowa's 5th District.
Thanks,
Matt Campbell.
