RKBA is a DKos group of second amendment supporters who also have progressive and liberal values. We don't think that being a liberal means one has to be anti-gun. Some of us are extreme in our second amendment views (no licensing, no restrictions on small arms) and some of us are more moderate (licensing, restrictions on small arms.) Moderate or extreme, we hold one common belief: more gun control equals lost elections. We don't want a repeat of 1994. We are an inclusive group: if you see the Second Amendment as safeguarding our right to keep and bear arms individually, then come join us in our conversation. If you are against the right to keep and bear arms, come join our conversation. We look forward to seeing you, as long as you engage in a civil discussion. RKBA stands for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

Did all of our good Liberal and Democratic friends catch the first segment of Rachel Maddow's monday show, where she talks about all the services that are being ended all over the country? Did everyone notice the mention of fewer cops? Has the story of the michigan serial killer in Flint -
( link )
- been covered enough to be recognized by the general public? That guy's been stabbing folks since MAY for crying out loud, and is now suspected for a number of attacks in virginia. There are roughly 135 cops in Flint for 110,000 people; and they may lay off more.
Does that bode well for folks in Flint who call 911? No. But I do believe fewer cops means it is likely to be a long career for that serial killer, at least until he runs across someone prepared to defend themself.
Why do I carry a gun? Because they don't make holsters big enough to carry a cop, and my back just can't handle the weight for a whole day. Oh, hey lookie here! A story about Florida concealed weapons permits on the rise, with a 50 year old single mom on the first page:

Looks like many folks in Florida also recognize that there are going to be fewer and fewer cops to go around, just like the info from Rachel's segment shows. Something to think about, eh?

When you live out away from the pressed-together population of the cities, such as canaan maine, the cops just can't get there lickety split:

Two men invade a suburban home in ohio in the middle of the night and somehow get the drop on a resident. Both leave via medics. More info:

Lots of times we hear about self defense in the home. But really, does anyone really actually think they are safe as a bug snug in a rug while they are out and about?
If so, then what about this little story about 3 young men mugged by 3 other men in full view of the local police department! Talk about "Where's a cop when you need one":

Also mentioned a lot by 2A supporters is that it is defense of the self. But what about looking out for others? Imagine you're an upstanding single dad with a 5 year old son. Imagine you're out on a date, and a female relative plus her hubby is with you. You park in a garage and are heading to the club. Say your group of 4 is surrounded by a gang of 5 men who make lewd and crude suggestive comments. You are surrounded and outnumbered, and then you are attacked. Read on:

If you're betting on a cop getting there in time like in the movies, or going to pray for the paramedics to pull off some miraculous maneuver like seen in ER or House or some other medical drama, think again. Matt was killed, dead right there. His son is now fatherless. The outlaws had a gun, but the upstanding dude working construction, raising his son, meeting new people; that guy was defenseless.

Uh-oh can't have them evilevil guns in movie posters in the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency venues:
'The Other Guys' Movie Poster Disarmed By Muni
The forthcoming Will Ferrell-Mark Wahlberg flick The Other Guys may yet be riddled with pot shots from film critics. Poor Ferrell and Wahlberg -- on Muni, they can't shoot back.
While the official poster for the film features a maniacal Ferrell and the menacing Wahlberg sailing through the air, guns drawn, the version in Muni stations features Ferrell brandishing a vial of pepper spray and Wahlberg relying upon his bare fists. This is not a coincidence.
"Well, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency does have an advertising policy that states ads should not appear to promote the use of firearms or advocate any violent action," explains spokesman Paul Rose. You can read the stipulations against promoting "the use of firearms" and "imminent lawlessness or violent actions" right here.
When someone breaks the law, they should be charged:
Candidate for Missouri Senate accused of threatening rival’s aide
Read more
JEFFERSON CITY | Police said Monday they are investigating allegations that a state Senate candidate from eastern Missouri threatened a political rival’s campaign manager.
Shawn Bell, who worked for Dick Stratman, filed a complaint against Brian Nieves on Thursday in Washington, Mo. Police Chief Ken Hahn confirmed Monday that an investigation had been launched but said it was in its preliminary stages.
* * *
In the statement to police that The Associated Press obtained Monday, the 24-year-old Bell said he stopped by Nieves’ campaign after the primary to offer congratulations to an aide there, but Nieves threw him up against a wall. Then, Nieves pulled a black gun out of his pocket and set it on a table and said he was going to kill Bell, according to the statement. Nieves later calmed down and said he wouldn’t kill him or put him in the hospital.
If the investigation shows reasonable grounds, he should be charged. That simple. I don't care whether he has a permit or not. I don't care if he is some kind of political bigwig (Nieves was the MO House Majority Whip). If he did this, then he should face the consequences.
And TG rounds it off for us with Food for Thought:
I regularly hear anti-rights activists bragging about how they know nothing whatsoever about guns, and how happy they are about that fact. Ignorance is never something to brag about -- but, luckily, it is a curable condition.
