Wow, there is trouble in paradise, looks like the GOP is back to the business of STEALING elections in FLORIDA. This time without their friends in the SCOTUS.
I am no fan of Rick Scott but he is absolutely right to be mad, the republican machine has been unfairly supporting McCollum, again, if they believed in the democratic process they would let it all play out and the winner would be decided by the people, but they just don't believe in having a FAIR election.
Sadly the ones that lose are the republicans Florida, the GOP is committing a crime against it's own voters, elections should be FREE and FAIR no matter what party you belong to, the state party should never favor one candidate over another.
Scott attacks McCollum’s RPOF ‘piggybank’
TALLAHASSEE — Republican candidate for governor Rick Scott is going ballistic over the state Republican Party’s finances — particularly the funneling of nearly $4 million to help primary rival Bill McCollum with polling, field staff, phone banks and other expenses.
The Republican Party of Florida reported raising $7.7 million in its state account since April, and directing about $3.8 million of that into helping McCollum — although party chairman John Thrasher says every dime of that money was raised by McCollum himself in large checks from major donors, and the party’s longstanding practice is to use those “soft dollars” to help the people who raised them.
Thrasher said he met with Scott in May to ask him to raise money for the party, too, but Scott rebuffed the offer.
The RPOF’s federal account shows a balance of just $54,000 — although it had a $441,000 deficit at the beginning of 2010 when Jim Greer was still struggling to cling to power. That account, though, isn’t being used to pay for McCollum campaign expenses, and instead goes toward paying party staff salaries, setting up the RPOF’s 50 Victory 2010 offices statewide, etc.
“The Republican Party of Florida, directed by Bill McCollum and his allies, has completely mismanaged this primary election,” Scott said in a statement Saturday. ”In their desperation to defeat me and hang onto power, they undemocratically cleared the field of other candidates and have since used the Republican Party as Bill McCollum’s personal piggy bank funneling close to $4 million to his campaign at the expense of Marco Rubio and our legislative candidates."
Instead of calling it a "PRIMARY" the GOP might as well just have called it a CORONATION.
