Adios folks - it's been an experience here, but the time has come for me to leave this site and the Democratic Party and call it a day. Yesterday I became an official member of the Green Party, having switched my party registration from the Democratic Party to the Green Party.
I wrote about my frustrations here several weeks ago - as you can see I am not a Johnnie come lately to the Democratic Party or the Obama Administration. However, I can no longer throws thousands of dollars at candidates and waste 1000's of hours of my life on that which does not make a difference.

People are crying out for help, their lives being destroyed by losing their jobs, losing their homes, losing their health insurance - and the Obama Administration - and a vast majority on this site, say wait. Work hard this fall, limit losses and we can try again. Frankly, we shouldn't have to try again. The 2006 and 2008 elections were handed to the party on a silver platter, and yet they still couldn't do right by the very people who needed the help the most.
The Obama administrations foreclosure program has been a disaster. Health care is years away from happening - but in the meantime they do nothing to try to create jobs - by ignoring this issue over the last two years, they have created the apocolypse that is coming this fall. Dems are going to lost the House and upwards of seven seats in the Senate and countless governor's seats and legislative seats across the country.
Use it or lose it - that is where we are going. And we have to go there. The party has done everything in its power to ignore the base, passing on good progressive legislation to try to coax the Repubs into backing bi-partisian legislation. And as result, Democratic voter turnout has been horrible in every special and general election since all of this started in late 2008.
What progressives need to do is to push progressive politicians in the house and senate to stop automatically backing everything the president wants. They need to start holding back their support and drawing a line in the sand and say I can't support this without this and this in this bill. They need to start playing the game that senators like Nelson, Lincoln, Landrieu, Pryor and Baucus play. And the base needs to start telling these progressive politicians to start playing the game. Stop giving up all your negotiating power by simply giving in.
But in the meantime, the coming train wreck this fall is going to wipe out any chance of progressive legislation from being implementing for a very long time. So I will start saving my money and time and start putting it in volunteer work where I can actually make a difference. And the Green Party will begin getting my votes, starting this fall.
And on election night, I will drink a martini as I watch politicians like Blanche Lincoln go down in flames and get exactly what they deserve.
Peace.
