Why can't Glenn Beck "restore honor"? Because the man is the most dishonorable character in the public eye alive today.
As Glenn Beck marches his army of 9/12ers across the country I am reminded of the inherent paradox of the Title he gave to his Martin Luther King rally, "Restoring Honor". Glenn Beck discussing Honor is equivalent to Bristol Palin discussing Celibacy. HONOR, according to Wikipedia, "is deemed exactly what determines a person’s character: whether or not the person reflects honesty, respect, integrity, or fairness." Based on this definition, Glenn Beck is among the most dishonorable people with a public soapbox alive today.
The manner in which he vilifies, attacks, and paints progressives as destroyers of freedom is pure dishonesty. His paranoid, apocalyptic ranting exemplifies his lack of integrity. His characterization of universities as "brainwashing" institutions, of government as communism, and of democrats as fascists shows his complete lack of respect for his fellow Americans, American governance, and American institutions. His efforts to twist the words of Barack Obama, Van Jones, Anita Dunn and scores of others, to paint them as something other than what they are, demonstrates his inability to grasp basic fairness in discourse. The man doesn’t have an honorable bone in his body.
We took Beck’s words of love and God and peace and juxtaposed them with his daily rants of hate and terror and violence. Then we put them in the mouth of a dummy, and delivered it to our subscribers on Friday.
