Historic Democratic majorities in the Senate couldn't end Don't Ask Don't Tell via legislative measures despite majority approval in the American public to end it. Even with it watered down. Even with a biased & poorly managed "study" tacked on as a concession.
Just in case anyone hasn't seen the news:
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com...
(CNN) - A defense bill that includes the repeal of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy failed to advance Tuesday in the U.S. Senate.
If we can't find the anti-bigotry votes now, I just don't see how we can find them after the midterm election. I'm angry. A lot of equality advocates are angry. Those who have their lives ruined by this are angry. But unlike some others, I'm not angry with the President (yet).
I am calling on the President to stand up to his campaign promise to be a fierce advocate, to stand by his State of the Union address, and to stand by his other speeches where he called for open service.
Join me in calling on the President to end Don't Ask Don't Tell by executive measures.

UPDATE
Thank you Lady Libertine for sharing the GET EQUAL petition calling on the President to take action. Its always better for Diaries to have action items IMO:
