Before we embark on the five month task of predicting John Kerry's Vice Presidential nominee (and he'll likely stretch it out until the convention, and why not?), I thought we should first start a pool on which SEVEN NAMES will be on the "short list."
The "short list" is that list that the presumptive nominee gives to the press in the days before the convention.
One of these names will be his choice.
The other names will play to various constituencies and individuals.
First Daily BigLeftOutside or Daily Kos reader to guess, accurately, the seven "short list" names gets a free coca-leaf watch from Bolivia with the inscription "NarcoNews.com".
My first glance (numbers do not indicate order of preference, but, rather, a simple way to count to seven).
- Max Cleland
- John Edwards
- Bill Richardson
- John Lewis
- Dianne Feinstein
- Dick Gephardt
- Henry Cisneros
In the days before the Democratic National Convention in Boston, there will be various (and disagreeing) "short lists" circulated as trial balloons. The one that is closest to that of the
Boston Globe on July 29th, 2004, wins the watch.
Deadline for changing one's predictions is Midnight July 27, 2004. New predictions, however, erase the validity of old predictions by the same person (Identification may be asked upon request.)
In case of a tie, the first entry, chronologically entered onto BigLeftOutside.com or DailyKos.com, gets the prize.
(Fine print: this is a separate contest from the "guess the VP nominee contest" already underway at BigLeftOutside.)
