Many on this blog and others have been lamenting on "why, oh why, can't Obama be more like LBJ?"
If Obama had been, he would not have gotten as much legislation passed in his first year then any other president.

According to Matt Yglesias from the report by Congressional Quarterly, President Barack Obama has accomplished more legislatively then the legendary LBJ.
The new CQ study gives Obama a higher mark than any other president since it began scoring presidential success rates in Congress more than five decades ago. And that was in a year where Obama tackled how to deal with Afghanistan, Iraq, an expanding terrorist threat, the economic crisis and battles over health care.
In part we’re seeing that an administration staffed, from the White House on down, with veterans of the Hill has a very good sense of what can pass congress and what you need to do to get congress to pass it.
Yglesias goes on to muse that while Obama may have accomplished more legislation then any president, the toll it is taking on his left flank may be something he cannot afford to keep pushing.
He also thinks with the coming Bank Reforms he may be able to shore up his base and make the left a little happier if he does go after the banks.
I am alot more supportive of the president then others on here. I have learned through living and reading and learning that life is alot more then what we idealistically wish for. I also can understand how being in the kind of situation the president was in on taking office, and most likely finding a sack load of alot more problems, immediate and systemic, from the Bush era then anyone realized.
I knew that the reason for the saving the Wall Street Banks was not something anyone wanted to do but, had to for the sake of our economy. To keep us from having our economic system collapse and taking the world's down with it.
NOTE: OMG. Rachel is just discussing the same thing I am writing about! Talk about timing.
Well, I am going to go ahead and post it and hope someone will read it.
