I have been seeing the highlights of the Presidents speech today. It would be nice if I thought it would do something - but there is a lobbyist right now at Pelosi's office (more than likely) paying for the right to not pay taxes.
It has only been a year (almost) and the change I felt a majority of this country wanted is not coming to light. I by no means think the President or anyone on his staff will even look at this, it is meant to make me feel better. Hopefully I don't anger anyone and maybe we can start being honest about what is going on. I do not care about politics anymore, I want my country back and the man I voted to get it back is being cut off at the knees by 'both' parties.
Here we go.
Dear Mr. President,
I voted for you , the closer on the deal for me was your desire for a team of rivals. So you know, Ralph Nader was a rival , as was Dennis Kucinnich . I feel some things have happened in the last few weeks that are changing this country for the worse , none of which directly involve you but will directly effect you.
ExxonMobil purchasing a huge natural gas company was / is a huge oversight by the Democrats. To big to fail is a problem, to big to say no to is an even larger problem, and that is what Exxon has become. Gas prices creeping up will hurt you, bad. I don't care that you can't control it, it will just hurt . If you think Democrats get nothing done in congress, just look at what happened when republicans were in power last !
Barking about banks now, really ? Not 1 new regulation has been passed while you have been in office - you sound like a bully with no hands . Go ahead, take the swing, your nub won't hurt ! To lecture banks about lobbying forgets a bill being reconciled right now by congress - lobbyists love it, as do the companies they represent. Let's not pretend only banks have lobbyists - where were the Comcast hearings when they were purchasing GE's media propaganda wing ?
I have been upset since the decision was made to send more troops to Afghanistan and not pulling out of Iraq 100% . I am not some hippie liberal who doesn't know what I am talking about, I am a Marine. I served my country with honor and distinction , and I am against these wars. Afghanistan has a low estimate of a 90% illiteracy rate . Poverty is a birth right. Think about that - 9 out of 10 people AT LEAST can not read . Want to end terrorism and recruiting tools - SEND SOME FOOD ! Build a school , start teaching people to read and write, allow the people of Afghanistan to read to Koran so a lunatic can't tell them what it says. Legalize heroin, or demand drug companies purchase the base for their poppy based drugs from Afghanistan , SOMETHING ! Don't be Ronald Reagan and promise rebuilding and building and leave the masses with no help, only to bite us 20 years later. Mr. President, do the right thing , bring our bravest home and let them be with their families . Lets start change NOW ! Show the world that even though people are brown they still have a HUMAN RIGHT TO BE LITERATE and make their own educated decisions.
Mr. President, your first year has been a battle - I do understand the media is against you, I understand your own party is afraid of losing campaign contributions , I understand that politics gets in the way of progress - but let us look to one word - CHANGE !
Change is what you promised, not a kinder , gentler George W. Bush . You seem to be brilliant, but your being dragged down by those around you. Get a new staff of advisors . Get some regular old white trash like me, people who see the struggle of life. Rich old white men who never had to toil for anything don't represent me - nor do former members of the board at Wal Mart . Get some working class people of all colors around you, not people who are career politicians but people who are career bill payers.
Unemployment could be solved with the Peace Corps or our country starting to be productive again - start banning goods that can't be verified no child toiled in China or Saipan or wherever to make. DEMAND responsibility . Government is there, in part, to protect the general populous from the evil that men do - men and corporations. Ronald Reagan may have made the word regulation evil, but if explained properly regulation can be embraced.
In closing Mr. President I want to wish you luck. I feel your next 3 years will be harder than the first and how you handle them could make them the platform for 4 more years or the speakers circuit .
I wish you and yours all the best
Sincerely
Me
