WHAT TO DO ABOUT MASSACHUSETTS
PUBLIC VERIFICATION OF VOTING RESULTS
The phone-banking for Martha Coakley website went down. So I took a moment to see what else we can do to make sure MA-Sen stays Dem. I found details and links for protecting the election process and verifying the vote. OK to save for later because
. . . . phone-banking from home is back online now, so let’s make calls:

ELECTION PROTECTION and VOTE VERIFICATION
If there is massive voter turnout this will be less of a problem, but if it looks close.......we will have to ramp up our efforts because you know the opposition will.
Remember: Gov. Christine Gregoire (D-OR) finally won by 100+ odd votes after three recounts.

WHAT: ELECTION PROTECTION and VERIFIED VOTING
Below you'll find suggestions for effective actions everyone can take, whether you live in Massachusetts or not, to help protect the truthfulness of Tuesday's Massachusetts senate special election.

WHEN: Election Day and afterwards!
Election Night and the days following the election are perhaps even more important!
WHO: Everyone who can help! You and Me +
Assuming we all have already contacted ever Massachusetts voter we know--we all can prepare to keep an eye on the voting and counting process.
WHY:
Public elections are the method by which we choose our representatives. Some say we have chosen to trust, because we empower our representatives to make decisions for us, and that is somewhat true. But the process of CHOOSING our representatives can never be ceded entirely to insiders, whether they work for the government or not. The public must retain the right to see and authenticate every essential step; if any key step is concealed from the public, the election ceases to be public, and an inadvertent transfer of power (from the public to a handful of insiders) takes place.

SNIPPET:
Those of us who live outside Massachusetts can help locate possible problem areas. How? By Googling around to see where there were anomalies, allegations, election complaints, or irregularities in the past. Tune into local races, like past mayor, sheriff or town council elections. Flag locations of interest by e-mailing them to crew@blackboxvoting.org or posting information here or in the Massachusetts section of this Web site.
