At 3pm one week ago, I was in an aircraft that taxied down the runway in Port au Prince. Lifting off, we flew over Boby Duval's L'Athletique D'Haiti grounds and school where our water truck and equipment are stored. As we climbed into the sky, we cast a shadow on homes and faces in the Bwa Nef area of Cite Soleil, then Soleil Wharf.
This is not the diary I wanted to share with all of you - but below I will show some of my photos from my time there this year.
This is the 14th diary on the earthquake disaster in Haiti. The first diary was by Dallasdoc, previous diaries linked below The idea is to keep resources visible and easily available for those wishing to donate to the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
The following is a comprehensive list of disaster relief links compiled, edited, and updated by the previous diarists. I will update or edit as necessary, but this list exists thanks to hard work of these folks as well as many other members of the Daily Kos community via comments in previous diary versions.
Here is the definitive version of the links please visit!
PLEASE RECOMMEND TO KEEP LINKS ON THE REC LIST.
UPDATE!!!! I just got a call from Orlando! They are here and will arrive in Minnesota tomorrow!! Wooohooo!
I'm awaiting news on my partners baby. Her name is Cheirdi, is 5 months old, and is as cute as they come. At midnight the papa (my partner) called to tell me she was being evacuated with the momma. They left with little, of course, but will stay with me. I am trying to prepare for them - apologies to all for being distracted.
I also want to say thank you. I am deeply touched and moved by the depth of generosity and commitment from the members of this site. The shelter boxes, the on going informational diaries, and this continuing posting demonstrates the level of love and humanity Kos readers have for all people and places of this world.
Anyone wishing to help continue this series should leave a note in the comments and I will publish the schedule at the end of this diary..
Nifty Update! - Shelter boxes are up to 77!
I have not received the code yet for the complete link-embedded version, so here is the last diary in this series, from this morning - please visit that for all of the current links to organizations and aid groups, information and ways to reach out.
so on to the photos:

And finally, this is a little slide show I did of the young men I met in the Bwa Nef area of Cite Soleil - they created a fabric collage of themselves and we discussed their future plans. I did this with Children's Culture Connection andL'Athletique D'Haiti, a youth sports organization:
I am pretty sure these young men are fine, but I won't be certain for some time.

Repairing staircases in Cite Soleil (USAID project homes) The Lamp Clinic (Bwa Nef)
And finally - here is a link to Healing Haiti - the group our water truck is working under. The truck (3,500 gallons) has been delivering water these past many days throughout Port au Prince, and our second truck (2,700 gallons) is
running now also. There are thousands of great relief efforts, so I won't push mine too hard - anything that makes it's way to Haiti, my beloved Haiti is something. There is a long haul ahead. And I'm not done crying.
thanks for reading.
please keep this going - volunteer to post a diary!
