I was shocked over the past few weeks, as M. Coakley's campaign crashed, and finally died tonight. However, I have little at stake over the election of a conservative republican to the US Senate. I'm Canadian, and already have universal healthcare. However, I almost felt sick after watching the results come in for this race. While the health care bill isnt great, its better than what you have now.
Senator Scott Brown. It sounds dreadful. He'll be Senator until 2013. Massachusettes (HA) just elected a conservative republican to replace one of the only US Senators who could have been aligned with the left wing NDP Party in Canada (Save for Sen. B. Sanders).
I feel violated. I feel wrong. It's not right. I wanted to donate - but I'm not allowed. I wanted to phone bank, but it would have been very expensive. I wanted to know people in Massachusetts - just so that I could tell them to vote... Massachusetts, for the next 3 years will be served by Scott Brown. I want to vomit. This is like Mississippi electing a black, interracially-gay-married socialist. I hope that Sen. Brown will attempt to moderate himself. Actually, no I'd rather he vote in step with the republicans, so that he can be soundly defeated in 2012. I always liked Martha Coakley. I don't like her anymore. I also, always found the font her team used for her campaign to be awful.
Senator Scott Brown. HOLY FREAKING GOD. I'm freaking out.
On a less serious note, In my riding, there is a by-election coming up. My riding (Toronto-Centre), is arguably the safest Liberal party riding in Canada. However, I'm nervous now. The progressive conservative candidate could swoop in and pull a Brown. Ok, thats not going to happen. Anyways, I'm ranting now. Bye for now. Also, sorry if my first diary lacked any substantive, thoughtful or critical thinking, my cognitive functions have been slightly paralyzed by Scott Brown.
Scott Brown, Senator... OMFG.
