Ok, I'm swimming upstream. We got thumped yesterday and all of the geniuses are eager to tell us why.
Tomorrow, maybe I'll be smart enough for that. Today, I want to recall the joy and hope, excitement enthusiasm.
So I made a video of my experience on the campaign trail in 2008.
Oh, and in case you recognize the construction of the sign, I'm the guy who made a similar sign saying "Public Option, NOW!" and went to Glenn Beck's Tea Party on the Mall and "starred" in the video "Teabaggers can't handle a little dissent."
Do you want to remember why we worked so hard? Do you want to remember why we were so enthusiastic?
I made some signs. They were giant signs that, despite their size, one could hold up way above their heads, and I took them to events and photographed supporters waving them. My idea was to post them on my Flickr page for people to download as their personal endorsement, and, from July 4, 2008 through the present, I have had more than 75,000 "views" as Flickr counts them.
But every time I handled the pictures -- cropping them, adjusting the lighting and contrast, uploading them -- every time I looked at them I was enervated. Perhaps we could use a bit of that today.
