Obama speech today on limiting the banks, he needs our help to pull this one off:
Wall Street's day of reckoning
President Obama has announced sweeping reforms to cut Wall Street down to size. Banks will now be banned from running their own hedge funds, private equity firms or indulging in any form of proprietary trading. There will also be caps on how large they can grow in future. Shares are falling on both sides of the Atlantic as the president forces through major reform at the heart of the banking system.

Nothing makes them nastier than losing money in a deal.
So this makes this decision doubly important
The Dow immediately dropped two hundred points but it will be only a dip because SCOTUS made a historically lunatic decision today.
Ruling that Corporations are essentially people and hence entitled to free speech.
In: CITIZENS UNITED v. FEDERAL ELECTION COMMISSION
However if our President has thrown down the gauntlet this ruling means that the response is going to be bloody.
It is going to be a duel for all our rights; the MSM is already a shell of what it was thirty years ago, it is now merely the sounding board for the rich and their corporations.
The amount of money that is going to be released into this fight will be mind blowing, the candidates will not have any possibility to compete with this war chest. Therefore the only way they can win is to be firmly embedded with our business community.
Business will not care which side wins, just so long it is their candidate that wins.
This does not bode well for all our futures.
If Obama really wants this fight then no matter what has gone before we must be ready to stack up the barricades and fight. There will be no compromise from the other side we cannot compromise from ours.
The Republicans are sold out body and soul, our corporate Dem's will abandon us, we need people in DC ready to sacrifice to win this battle. In the house and senate there are but a handful.
If our President is willing to risk all in this then we should scream from the ramparts.
I'm on the left and I ask those in the centre to join this fight because it may be our last chance before we really do have:
America Inc.
This will not be a democracy this will be a Corporate hierarchy.
I for one am not willing to become a serf to these neo-feudal barons.
There are going to be many who fall by the wayside and take what they can get without a struggle.
You want a common cause and a rallying cry:
Well this is it, are we ready to join together and fight?
Or will we give up before it starts?
I'm ready to take the fight to the Astro-turfers, congress and anyone who wants to whinge that its too much of a risk to do so.
Its twenty ten and we really don't have much time:
The elections in November are critical and we must have more and better Dem's.
Can progressives and moderates join together in this fight?
Can we stop the bickering and say this is our common cause?
I hope so, its gets lonely sometimes out here.
This is where our President can prove he is a real leader for change.
Lets give them hell
;-)
