This will be a short diary. I just woke up to read dengre's excellent diary (as well as Chronic Tonic's with the wonderful chickens!) after going to bed on the heels of KO and blackwaterdog and boofdah's plea and some very fitful sleep. At least there have been rays of light to remind me why the Daily Kos community has been such an important, inspiring, informational, galvanizing daily go-to experience for me for years now.
This diary is a suggestion box. The first one, mine, is below the fold.
My suggestion for those (like me) who cannot seem to stay away from Daily Kos despite the destructiveness and massive troll infiltration of late:
#1 Get some distance by only reading the front page of Daily Kos.
I trust Markos and those at the helm here to provide reliable, balanced information and to rescue those diaries that are worth reading. I will look forward to an evening with Keith and Rachel, who I trust (along with their excellent staffs) to ferret out the most important news of the day and present it intelligently, not hysterically.
I have a DailyKos Kindle subscription, which only gives me the front page material. I've made a pact with myself that I am only going to read the Kindle content until I feel more positive and strong. It's well worth that .99 a month to turn off the shit-fire hose for a while.
dengre, thank you. Ditto. And thanks to all the Kossacks (you know who you are) who strive to find a way to do something productive--even if it's just to provide some levity or humor--until this dark veil that's descended over all of us here lifts/is lifted by those of us who are determined not to give up, who intend to make things better no matter what's thrown at us.
Okay, one last look at the four-color chickens, and then I'm off to build up my energy and enthusiasm for the 2010 fight. See ya in a month or so.
