I have no wish to detract from the wonderful effort here on DK to raise money for Shelterboxes. But I have received an e-mail from an organization involved in the effort, Partners in Health.
The organization is asking for donations, naturally. But beyond that, they need medical supplies, and people who can volunteer to go to Haiti.
But maybe you can't help there. Well, do you live in the Boston area? They need help there too.

Here's a little detail on the volunteer opportunity in Boston:
Volunteers in Boston
In response to the earthquake in Haiti, Partners In Health is in need of additional support for our relief efforts. We are looking for volunteers who are prepared to assist PIH staff with emergency support in the Boston office.
Responsibilities: The volunteer(s) will provide administrative and logistical support. The volunteer(s) will be assisting wherever needed, which may include communication with donors, assist with processing donations and data entry, coordinate travel plans, schedule meetings, provide communications assistance and other tasks as needed. This is a fulltime volunteer position.
In addition, the office has posted a paid job listing for a Temporary job coordinator for Haiti.
So, if you have some free time, and you live in Boston, get involved.
