Mohawkvalleywanderer posted a diary that asked "Is Fox Worth $5.79?"
MediaMatters appears to be the one and only news source with a resounding answer to that question in an article titled "Hopeless: Fox News stands virtually alone in not airing Haiti benefit concert."
On January 22, a wide variety of broadcast, cable, radio, and internet outlets, including CNN and MSNBC, preempted their regularly scheduled prime-time programming and aired Hope for Haiti Now, a benefit concert and telethon to raise funds for Haiti earthquake relief. But even after receiving criticism for giving little coverage to the devastating earthquake in Haiti on its top-rated programs, Fox News did not preempt its programming and air the benefit concert, instead broadcasting regular editions of The O'Reilly Factor and Hannity.
When Fox News is accused of not being a news organization again, the failure on their part to air the Haiti Telethon should be cited and this.
Fox News’ decision not to air the Haiti Telethon was equivalent to their friend Bush ignoring the people of New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
How much more proof does one need to grasp just how despicable Fox News is?
Well, you have to be mighty hateful and evil to support, or work for Fox News in any capacity.

The first time someone shows you who they are, believe them.
The Haiti Telethon, and most of America’s response to the unbelievable suffering in Haiti, showed the best America has to offer and was on full display.
Fox News, Pat Robertson and Rush Limbaugh’s nasty response to the tragedy in Haiti showed the worst America has to offer and is on full display.
This is why it is so important for everyone to remember the role Fox News played in putting Bush and Cheney in the White House and promoting their agenda during the eight years they were in office.
Instead of progressives and liberals and sane people and humane people fighting against President Obama, who has only been in office for a year, and who has done more than a republican president would ever do for the American people, we need to remember just how we got to this scary place in history we find ourselves in today.
I’m by far no Bible Thumper. But, this passage comes to mind quite often these days.
Hosea 4:6 (King James Version)
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
But, in a world where information is literally at our fingertips, and the truth about Fox News is there for those who truly seek out the truth, or care about the whole of humanity, I realize that we will perish because we are such fickle and foolish and forgetful people.
Once again, we're letting the same old people run the table.

Do you know who the most frequently booked guest on "Meet The Press" was this year? Ex-Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich. Do you know how often Nancy Pelosi, the actual Speaker of the House was on "Meet The Press" this year? Zero. Do you know how many times all the other living ex-Speakers of the House were on "Meet The Press" this year? A grand total of zero. Newt Gingrich has no position, and yet the mainstream media has embraced him as a responsible spokesman for a position where he says the President- This is not Rush Limbaugh. This is not Bill O'Reilly. He says the President of the United States cares more about the rights of terrorists than he does protecting the American People. Now, does any sensible person believe that? No. But that is driving the narrative in the mainstream media. Not on Fox.
Once again, we're letting the media chart our course.

What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception
If anything, the national press corps was probably too deferential to the White House and to the administration in regard to the most important decision facing the nation during my years in Washington, the choice over whether to go to war in Iraq. The collapse of the administration's rationales for war, which became apparent months after our invasion, should have never come as such a surprise. The public should have been made much more aware, before the fact, of the uncertainties, doubts, and caveats that underlay the intelligence about the regime of Saddam hussein. The administration did little to convey those nuances to the people, the press should have picked up the slack but largely failed to do so because their focus was elsewhere--on covering the march to war, instead of the necessity of war.
Fox News and too many in the media insist people are so angry with the direction our country is headed.
You mean to tell me that it took Barack Obama being in office for only a year, and his policies, to finally push us over the edge?
Where was all the anger and frustration and calls for "Taking our country back" when Bush and his brother Jeb stole the presidential election in 2000?
Where was all the anger and frustration when clear and present lies led us to the war in Iraq that subsequently killed and maimed our most precious treasure, killed and maimed thousands of Iraqis, and left behind families and friends on both sides whose lives have been decimated in the wake of that loss and destruction?
Where was all the anger and frustration during the eight years Bush was in office when I can't ever remember him mentioning the economy the way he obsessed over Iraq?
If we weren't such a fickle and foolish and forgetful people, the question put to GOP Strategist Todd Harris by Chris Matthews would answer any question as to why republicans and conservatives and most independents (who I believe are for the most part really republicans anyway) should not gain control of The White House and Congress any time soon.

What have the Republicans done for America lately? Or in the past couple decades?
Fox News can come out the winner in ratings day after day. But, as long as Fox News is allowed to keep this country bitterly divided and mindlessly distracted from taking care of each other, the way the Haiti Telethon was meant to do, the American people will continue to lose everything that once made America great for so long.
For far too long, Fox News has successfully turned their loyal viewers basically into cannibals.
Eating each other alive has only created an America that is now showing signs of the same types of problems third world countries and countries with brutal dictators have suffered for years.
Hunger. Poverty. Moral decay. Civil rights abuses and violations. Corrupt government and political officials. Unnecessary wars. Domestic terrorists.
And, just when I didn't think Fox News had it in them to slither on their belly lower than a snake, being the only major media outlet that chose not to cover the Haiti Telethon took Fox News to a new low found only in the nether regions of hell.
Fox News, their supporters and all the other news media willing to stand by Fox News should be ashamed of themselves.
But, as far as Fox News and their enablers are concerned, shame has left the earth.
