In an attempt to shore up his conservative credentials President Obama announced today that he would switch from Democrat to Republican. In an elegant speech given this afternoon right after his announcement to enact a spending freeze for three years, the president had this to say: "It is time for me to take bold actions and take off the gloves. We are on the verge of a new beginning a new area of Republican rule."
He called on his fellow Democrats to abandon hope and change and to embrace the political agenda of the Republican party. "No longer do we need to fight for healthcare and income equality, gay rights and women rights. We need to move this country forward. In a new direction that will insure that more wealth is distributed to the top 1 % of this great nation " the president said.
When asked why he switched parties Mr. Obama said: "After deep consideration and counsel with my closes allies Rahm Emanuel, Timothy Geithner and Senator Evan Bayh, It became clear that I have moved too much to the left. People like Rachel Maddow and Markos Moulitsas had too much sway constructing my political agenda. As a result my presidency has become a failure. I have been forced to take the only action I can and that is to switch parties".
When asked if he would run for his party nomination in 2012 Mr. Obama had this to say: "We need to unite behind the candidate with the most life experience and real world smarts. That candidate is former Alaska governor Sarah Palin. Her knowledge and insight will guide us through these dark days."
In a interview with Politico Minority Leader in de Senate Mitch McConnell a Republican from the state of Kentucky was asked if he would support the presidents agenda after the party switch, he said: "NO"
