I would be surprised if Herseth's opponent is against the Hate Amendment. Thus, we are now given the choice between two people who would vote to defile our constitution. That being equal Herseth brings us one step closer to winning the U.S. House. Therefore, it seems logical to support Herseth's candidacy.
However, principles and conscience still matter. Protecting our constitution is vital--more important then any house seat. Anyone senseless and shortsighted enough to support the introduction of hate and bigotry into our constitution does not deserve support. If lived in South Dakota I would vote for Herseth, and that is probably more then she deserves. But my support ends there--no door knocking, no contributions, nothing. If I were in Kos's position, I would not actively promote Herseth's campaign.
I am willing to do a lot to win back our country, but co-signing prejudice is not one of them.
