In late 2007, [John] Kiriakou told ABC News's Brian Ross that Zubaydah "answered every question" after being subjected to waterboarding for "30 to 35 seconds" during his interrogation.
"The threat information he provided disrupted a number of attacks, maybe dozens of attacks," Kiriakou said in 2007.
And now...
In his new book, Kiriakou writes he was "wrong on a couple counts" in his interview such as whether he actually saw Zubaydah's interrogation and how long it took for him to talk.
"I wasn't there when the interrogation took place; instead, I relied on what I'd heard and read inside the agency at the time," Kiriakou says in the book.
"Now we know," Kiriakou says, "that Zubaydah was waterboarded eighty-three times in a single month, raising questions about how much useful information he actually supplied."
CBS News
Kiriakou, who was basically feeding lies to ABC news, who ate it up no real questions asked, defended himself...
"...he claims that the disinformation he helped spread was a CIA dirty trick: "In retrospect, it was a valuable lesson in how the CIA uses the fine arts of deception even among its own."
And as we all know all the tapes of Zubaydah's torture have been destroyed. This isn't really shocking to anybody I suppose, but it certainly reinforces what we know about several things...
The media are dupes.
The CIA cannot be trusted with ANYTHING they say.
Waterboarding DOES NOT WORK.
And most likely, nobody who can do anything about it cares.
