A true American hero has died.
Howard Zinn may have done as much as anyone to change the perverted view of history as a record only of the doings of the rich and powerful. A People's History of the United States is an essential part of any American education.
Sorry, more of a report than a diary. But I wanted to thank Howard Zinn for helping to pull the wool from the eyes of generations of Americans, myself included through the work of his students. I was pleased to read that 2 of my favorite people, Alice Walker and Marian Wright Edelman, were students of his.
