I'm the New Media Director for the U.S. Senate campaign of Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner. Last week she filed Declaration of Candidacy petitions to officially become the first woman to run for the United States Senate from Ohio as a current, elected statewide officeholder. (And when she wins, she will become the first woman to hold either a Senate seat or the Governor's seat in Ohio.)
The video camera was rolling for the occasion, and as usual Jennifer Brunner delivered a powerful message in her straighforward, common sense manner:
Voters just want someone who understands what they're concerned about, and who is willing to go to bat for them. And who is willing to say, "I'm going to do what I think is the right thing, even if I don't get elected again." ...
They haven't been courageous enough in the Senate. They need to stand up for what they believe in, they need to understand that you're not going to please everyone. But if you're honest, and if you're genuinely trying to meet as many people's needs as possible, the voters are going to give you credit for that.
Watch the video, after the break.
Isn't it time for a Democratic candidate who doesn't hesitate to point out the lack of courage in the Senate?
This video captures a lot of the spirit of Jennifer Brunner, who overcame vicious GOP attacks and death threats while cleaning up Ohio's elections and protecting the right to vote, and was awarded the JFK Profiles in Courage Award for her efforts.
Watch the video:
Jennifer Brunner is the real deal in the Senate primary election in Ohio -- an outspoken progressive on the issues, and a courageous leader who is determined to do what is right. (One noted Ohio blogger dubbed her "The Velvet Inferno.")
Jennifer Brunner is running a grassroots campaign, opposed by the party establishment in our state -- and the DSCC. Please, give what you can to support her and help elect a true progressive champion to the Senate!
