The Tebows' planned assault on women's right to choose needs to be countered if the ad is shown on Super Bowl Sunday. A boycott is unrealistic, but there's at least one other effective measure.
I've spent a little too much time this morning looking through Daily Kos to find mention of what I think is a simple and effective response to the upcoming (supposedly) Tebow ad, so instead of more digging I think it's worth the risk of repetition so propose a r e s p o n s e to the ad. The Tebow clan is, arguably, excercising their right to free speech, but that doesn't mean a response from a liberal like me has to be in the same form.
Here's what I will do if the 'Pro-Life' ad appears and is as egregious as many of us suspect it will be: I will calmly and quietly sit down at my little computer and make a few online donations, donations to organizations like Planned Parenthood or NOW or my local Democratic party organization or most any reputable group that opposes Tebow thinking. I won't be able to afford a large number of donations so I will probably give preference to the ones that have a 'Donation in the name of' box, which is where I will place the name Tim Tebow.
Maybe my plan sounds a little crazy or simplistic, but if a million or so people are as crazy as me, well, some kind of message will be sent, as well as some help to people fighting for freedom of choice.
And that's the name of that tune.
