Good morning, and we're waiting. Welcome to Saturday Morning Garden Blogging.
Like most of the country, Denver's weather has been COLD for the past week.
The arctic blast moved in during the early hours on Wednesday. Although the official high of the day was 42°, that temperature was recorded way before dawn out at the airport; starting just after midnight the temperature dropped steadily, so the daytime high was in the teens. Thursday the overnight low was -16°. The cold is moving out — yesterday we got above freezing, and by Tuesday the forecast calls for a high in the upper 50s.
Meanwhile, I got nothing — just waiting for the cold to go and the forced hyacinth to bloom.
I've ordered the necessary veggie seeds from Pinetree — and there are a couple of varieties I want to try from Territorial, but I haven't browsed all the way through that catalog yet. I've a stack of catalogs I still need to go through — High Country Gardens, Dutch Gardens, and several new vendors who have added me to their list.
I put in an order for more spring-planted heirloom bulbs — mostly glads — at Old House Gardens.
But for the most part I'm just... waiting. Maybe I'll make it out to the shed today to get the bag of seed starting mix so I can get the roman chamomile started; probably not.
Just a few more weeks and the spring bulbs will emerge, the snow will have melted off the veggie patch, and my fingers will be itching to dig in the dirt. By then I should be doneknitting Lyra
That's what's happening here. What's going on in your gardens?
