WOW! Someone call Glenn Beck. A teabagger candidate likes to dress up as a Nazi in public. Uh-ohs . . .
The Atlantic's Josh Green reports that millionaire businessman Rich Iott, the Republican nominee challenging Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D) in Ohio's Ninth District, has an unusual hobby: He likes to pretend he's a Nazi.

According to their website, the Wikings strive to "salute" the "idealists" from occupied northern Europe who saw the Third Reich as "the protector of personal freedom and their very way of life" and signed up to fight for the Wermacht and "gave their lives for their loved ones and a basic desire to be free."

Yes, Democratic Incumbent Marcy Kaptur's opponent is Nazi friendly. For more damning evidence, go below the fold.

Read the whole frontpaged article at talkingpointsmemo.com. This looks as bad as it sounds.
But disclaimers notwithstanding, the site's discussion of the history of the Third Reich is oddly sanitized and presents the Nazi movement in Europe as in many ways an admirable and idealistic cause. "Germany," reads the site's history section, "headed a strong movement in Europe to actively campaign (politically and through warfare) against the ideals of Bolshevist Communism. This culminated in 1941, when the German armed forces were pitted against the very home of Bolshevism, Soviet Russia."
With that intro it should come as little surprise that the site also makes little mention of one of the unit's other key roles on the Eastern front: rounding up and murdering eastern European Jews.

The Tea Party backed Republican candidate in question, Rich Iott, claims that he is "interested in history", and makes the case that just because he dresses like a nazi in public and associates with a group that diminishes the role of anti-semitism in Hitler era Germany while espousing it's more anti-communist virtues, he really isn't a nazi, he just likes to dress up like one in public.
Just check out the official Wiking recruitment video from 2009
That says it all, really. There isn't that much more commentary I can add to this. Rich Iott dresses like a Nazi in public and associates with groups that paper over the Holocaust in order to highlight anti communist sentiment, as if opposition to communism was the real issue in Nazi Germany.
Though Rich Iott claims that this is no different than Civil War re-enactments, I beg to differ. As wrong headed as it is to celebrate the Confederacy's failed defense of slavery, it is far worse to don the appeal of the perpetrators of the Holocaust for ANY REASON. Call it the Ultimate Godwin Law. Simple logic, dressing up like a Nazi kinda makes you a Nazi.
WTF?
So, let's help out Marcy Kaptur, Democrat for Ohio's 9th district. Not only is she a good candidate on her own merit, but her tea party backed opponent dresses like a fucking Nazi.
Help contribute to Marcy Kaptur for Congress with ActBlue
Let's be honest. If it dresses like a Nazi and is involved in Holocaust diminishing Nazi groups, it is NOT a duck! But it might be a Teahadist Republican.
You know what to do . . . .
