I'm thinking of doing a sunday evening series on comic books and graphic novels.
More down there.....
I've loved comic books since I was a kid so I'd like to do a series of diarys on the topic. I'd also like to put a political slant on it. Emphasising the political leanings of various characters. I/e: Iron Man's neo-con turn, Green Arrow as the ultimate fighting libral, the Fables pro Israel influences. Daredevil's Irish Catholic dogma. X-Men as a metaphore for all repressed minorities. The wise ass generational angst of Buddy Bradley from Hate. The Hulk as an icon for anti-militarization. The advanced metaphysical alternitive religion overtones often seen in the works of Grant Morrison( The Invisibles), Alan Moore (Promethia), and Neil Gaiman (Sandman). Frank Miller's (Dark Knight) conservative turn. The Batman / Superman idealogical conflict. Female superheroes rise to leadership roles. (Storm, Wasp, Wonder Woman, Invisible Woman). The Jewish Americans role in virtually creating the whole modern genra, or even just great artwork.
So I'm just asking how many of you would be interested in participating? Be it joining the discussion or even writing a diary of your own.
