Raul Labrador is Pro-Life. His opponent Walt Minnick has a 100% rating with the pro-abortion groups in Washington DC. He voted for every piece of abortion legislation and federal funding of abortions.
reads an entry on Labrador for Idaho's Facebook page, with a link to a Youtube video in which the 1st Congressional District candidate states his position.
A few years ago, an Idaho newspaper editor once told me that the two most-responded-to topics for any opinion piece, were abortion and Hillary Clinton.
So I was not surprised that this entry had more than 51 comments in less than 24 hours of posting.
Here are a few excerpts:
Chryssa Rich: Oops, you mean "pro-choice". No one is pro-abortion.
Dan Dunham: Chryssa, I haven't met anyone that was 'pro-choice' that isn't pro-abortion. I have seen some pretty rabid reactions to the CHOICE of keeping a baby. Pro-Choice was coined to ignore the reality of what an abortion is-murder. You cannot erase the STAIN of what an abortion is by coining pretty phrases to try to hide what it is.
Colin Schilling: Did you know that abortion is the number 1 factor in reducing juvenile crime rates? If you ban abortion be ready for an unstoppable crime wave in 20 years.
Reggie Holmquist:
@all: I hope you realize abortion is just a wedge issue that Republicans use. They use it to get you Theocrats all worked up and then they don't deliver when you elect them b/c if they did they would have nothing to ...get you all worked up over come the next election (see: "What's the Matter With Kansas?"). Why let them manipulate you?
Chryssa Rich goes on to mention that she is pro-choice but hates abortion. She wishes we didn't need it in this country at all, and says that's why she supports age-appropriate sex ed and affordable birth control.
Another poster stated "I can tell we're winning!!" ... saying to Raul Labrador that "the Democrats are running scared so they have to argue on your face book."
To this, Joel Kennedy responded: Either that, or we're bored, so we have to come to where there are even a few Labrador supporters to have debates. It's not like there are enough people interested in the Labrador campaign to get a footprint anywhere else. Maybe 200 people at the Fire Pelosi bus stop (a generous estimate from Rep. Hagedorn; most pictures showed no more than 40 people)? That's not even 0.04% of the population of the Treasure Valley.

Other entries in the thread have some of the standard barbs, personal attacks, overgeneralizations, and histrionics that are, unfortunately, customary in such forums.
Considering Joel Kennedy's point, it is always good to take Idaho-based discussions outside of Idaho, in order to enrich my neighbors here in the Gem State.
The enormous international base of Daily Kos bloggers is a tremendous asset.
Your help is needed.
Chime in to the debate and let Raul Labrador know what you think!
