Per an idea I suggested earlier, here are the latest "media exclusivity scores." These tests, using news.google.com, check to see who's getting press that's independent of other candidates. Here are the current results as of 11/7/03 at about 9:30 PM Central. Kerry does pretty well, actually.
+"Howard Dean": 5720
+"Howard Dean" -(rest of field): 1410 (24.7%)
+"Wesley Clark": 4170
+"Wesley Clark" -(rest of field): 996 (23.9%)
+Gephardt: 4420
+Gephardt -(rest of field): 417 (9.4%)
+"John Edwards": 4260
+"John Edwards" -(rest of field): 0 (0%)
+"John Kerry": 5420
+"John Kerry" -(rest of field): 1450 (26.8%)
+Lieberman: 5430
+Lieberman -(rest of field): 0 (0%)
These tests are a bit difficult to run because Google is always collecting news stories. Also, these statistics say nothing about whether the stories are positive, negative, or neutral. And there are some difficulties in searching with some surnames, so I used first names where it made sense.
Anybody have any idea why Kerry has a relatively high exclusivity percentage?
