From Pamela Powers of the Tucson Citizen:
Last week in my article Ruth McClung: Brought to you by the Republican Party Machine, I reported that the right-wing extremist political action committee (PAC) the Republican Majority Campaign was endorsing and raising money for McClung.
Less that 24 hours after I posted that story and when the Google searches for "Ruth McClung" were lighting up with that story, the website link to the Republican Majority Campaign’s blatantly racist fundraising efforts on McClung’s behalf (below) disappeared. -Source
It seems that the new Tea Party darling of southern Arizona, Ruth McClung (the same Ruth McClung who signed the Americans for Tax Reform pledge but didn't know anything about that group) is in a bit of hot water over an endorsement from the ultra-right-wing Republican Majority Campaign PAC.
Unfortunately, after the race-baiting (and at times blatantly racist) endorsement was picked up by Pamela and the rest of the Netroots, RMCPAC literally pulled the plug on the entire thing by completely wiping their website
What I found was fascinating. The Republican Majority Campaign website is here, and it’s pretty thin. The fundraising website that I had found previously started with "rmcpac.com". Now all pages for that website come up blank– not "page not found" but blank.
So what was RMPAC trying to hide? Well, see for yourself:
El temblando racista de (the quiverying racist of) Tucson, Sr. Grijalva, must be defeated at all costs.
...
He believes in, sponsors and promotes "La Raza" (the Mexican race) while we conservatives value all races equally. We have heard his silly racist name calling for decades now and it is time the electorate of the 7th Congressional District of Arizona tells him to shut up, go to Mexico City and cash in his race card where it may bring him five centavos.
Real nice stuff, huh? Nothing wrong with telling someone of hispanic descent to go to Mexico City... Even though Raul Grijalva is a US citizen born in Tucson, Arizona.
So what does Ruth McClung have to say about this endorsement?
I am excited to receive the endorsement of the Republican Majority Campaign PAC! RMCPAC is very selective in their endorsements.
...
I am proud and thankful that they have chosen to add me to their list of endorsements.
And just to make sure you understand who exactly is the racist here, an excerpt from RMCPAC's letter to a "fellow patriot":
To make matters worse, the hugely corrupt and incompetent country of Mexico has placed its "Unofficial" Congressman – Raul Grijalva – at its beck-and-call. Grijalva is following the most corrupt, dirty and undemocratic campaigning practices imaginable – just like the drug cartels do in Mexico.
...
Grijalva is a leader of the pro-communist group of Members of Congress known as the "Progressive Caucus" but do NOT let the term "progressive" fool you. This word in todays hard-left terminology simply means "communist."
Folks, this is the real tea party. And as much as Ruth McClung tries to fool the voters of AZ-07 with her moderate public face, the fact of the matter is, she's a far-right ideologue beholden to Grover Norquist (even though she doesn't know him) and the racist right.
While Ruth McClung racks up cash and endorsements from the far-right (NON-Arizonans!) and hides from public debates, Raul Grijalva is out, talking to the people and presenting real solutions to the problems facing Arizona, as well as America in general.
Grijalva said Republican challenger Ruth McClung's much-publicized refusal to appear at the debate, which featured questions from audience members, "did a disservice to the community. We need a serious conversation about where we're headed as a region, and I look forward to every opportunity to have that conversation. My opponent apparently does not."
...
"In the clear choice before you, I hope you understand consistency and character need to be part of the decision."
- People for Grijalva Press Release, 10/18
Why not help send Raul Grijalva back- and keep know-nothings like Ruth McClung on Department of Defense sponsored workfare. That way she can do her "rocket science" that she so loves to tout.
