For those in the Southern California area, this Friday presents a historic opportunity to hear the 44th President give a barn-burner of a campaign speech.
And now due to an overwhelming number of RSVP's, Team Obama has decided to change the location of the rally scheduled for this Friday, October 22nd on the campus of the University of Southern California.
The rally had been scheduled to take place on the 39,000 sq ft. McCarthy Quad. But yesterday, Organizing for America sent out a mass email announcing the moving of the event to the much larger, 69,000 sq ft Alumni Park.
I contacted the events department at USC for more information and was advised that while the actual event was moved to Alumni Park, they are planning on setting up big screens in the original venue, the adjacent 39,000 sq ft McCarthy Quad and packing in the folks there as well!
Now, I'm no crowd expert, but based on a conservative estimate this rally will dwarf the recent 35,000 person turnout for the President. As a matter of fact, based on the area available and the President's popularity here, it's likely we'll see a crowd upwards of 50,000. No joke.
This rally is going to be huge and I for one am going to do my best to get in.
In addition, the following week President Obama is scheduled to make an appearance on The Daily Show, just days before ANOTHER large rally of young (and not so young) folks on the Washington Mall: Jon Stewart & Stephen Colbert's "Restore Sanity and/or Fear Rally."
Taken all together let's hope this acts as a shot in the arm for turnout among younger voters on November 2nd.
If you can be in the Los Angeles area REALLY EARLY this Friday (folks are planning on lining up overnight) and haven't already RSVP'd, here's the link;

GOTV!
UPDATE: Captain Kirk's nipples! I can't believe it, my first time on the Rec List! Thanks everyone!
And I hope to see lots and lots of my DailyKos brethren at USC this Friday! The weatherman says it'll be mostly sunny and 74 degrees. It should be a day to remember!
