I am looking for some answers for a friend about health care coverage. She works from home for a company that provides health education to seniors. She is married with a small daughter and another child on the way.
She recently found out from the company that her contract will be coming to an end. This places her in a precarious situation. As a pregnant woman, she says she's been told that her condition is pre-existing, and therefore she's having difficulty getting coverage.
Her job is coming to an end either on November 2 or December 2, but she doesn't know exactly when. If it is Dec. 2, she will be able to carry her insurance over for the next three months after that.
She says she will probably be eligible for COBRA but she's afraid that it will cost way too much.
Can anyone tell me if there is a provision in the Health care bill for pregnant women, as it relates to pre-existing condition?
Also, regarding COBRA, is there funding for it in the health care bill that is affordable for a person in her position?
Got any answers? Please help me help her.
