Welcome and good Sunday morning to everyone! I hope that this Sunday morning finds you all well and ready to get your groove on. I know that Sunday morning always finds me ready for some tunes. I can tell you that the list of things better than watching The Lolipop Guild Local 143 put on a rug cutting demonstration in my living room is... well... pretty short.
This week I have selected a few songs that I think are at least clever and maybe even funny. I've tried to stick to a certain quality level in the music which accompanies the mirth filled lyrics. While I really do enjoy songs like 'The Mississippi Squirrel Revival', I am not convinced that it rises to the level of jam session material. Maybe I will put it in the comments section, but I've got a reputation for quality to maintain here in the main body of my very serious diary series. (I almost typed that with a straight face).
Now the Siegal - Schwall band fits the bill. They leave the listener with nothing to wine about (I'm really bummed that the video embed code for this one isn't working. It's well worth clicking the link). They know a blues song when they see it.
Speaking of blues that are good for a chuckle:
The Blues hasn't got a monopoly on humorous lyrics of course. Some funny stuff comes with a twang.
Lest you should think that funny songs have to center around inebriation, here's one off of the best children's album ever. Here we keep the twang, but need not stray from sobriety to get our chuckles:
Here Phish mocks the twang. This one is a BIG hit at our house. Even while ridiculing the sound they play it extremely well:
Phish is certainly no stranger to the silliness:
And here's a clever one that many here will likely alright be familiar with:
As always, we're so very thankful for your company this morning. We hope that you will please come and join us in the comments area. The kids and I look forward to whatever it is that you feel like sharing with us. I am sure that there is plenty of humor be shared, but we aren't asking you to see humor as a requirement for potential posts. We hope that, no matter what is going on in your life, you will always be able to see at least a little bit of humor and allow yourself a chuckle or two.
Please show someone that you love them today. It's nice to tell a person that you love them. In my opinion, it's much better to show them.
And remember:
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
Also remember Todd and Lila love you.
