Hi. I just noticed something strange, and I don't know if it is a genuine mistake or some sort of evil trick.
My wife and my stepson both received an "Application for Absentee Ballot" in the mail. This is the first year Illinois has had such a widespread vote by mail process. It says it was sent from "Election Headquarters" of the Democratic Party of Illinois. OK, fine.
But, oddly enough, both my wife's form, and my stepson's have their birth dates already filled out, with the wrong date. In both cases they are off by one day and four years. Essentially, they are both listed as four years older than they actually are. Both of them. The exact same error.
Is this the result of some computer glitch at the Illinois Democrat's end. I'd hate to think it is an evil plot by Karl Rove to dupe a lot of people into unwittingly committing "voter fraud."
Regardless, if you get one of these in the mail, check it. And make sure everything is correct before sending it off.
In any event, we're all voting in person on election day, anyhow. That's a lot more fun.
(And, now that you all know I have a stepson who is of voting age, I suppose I should reconsider my screen name. How does Grumpy Near-Middle-Age Man" sound?)
