If the Democrats wind up keeping control of both houses of Congress on Tuesday, I suspect many will cite the sort of advise similar to that which was given during Keith Olbermann's special comment last night.
If anyone needed reason to go to the polls and prove the so-called "conventional wisdom" wrong about Democrats not voting and Republicans winning control of at least the House of Representatives, all they'd have to do is to listen to the egregious stands Republican candidates have taken which Olbermann does a tremendous job of documenting.
More below.
For those who missed it, here's Olbermann's special comment:
Part 1
And part 2
The examples Olbermann cited in the commentary provided more than sufficient reason why Democrats cannot afford to stay away from the polls on Tuesday or before. One of the examples Olbermann cited in his special comment, Stephen Broden (TX-30), got this statement of endorsement from my area's embarrassment of a congressman, Pete Sessions (TX-32):
"Texas needs proven leaders like Stephen Broden in Congress to turn the Democrat tide of record unemployment, taxes, and debt that threaten our nation’s future. Stephen Broden’s conservative ideals and Republican principles would help restore fiscal sanity in Washington and build a brighter future for our community."
If anyone needed any further evidence of Sessions' total unfitness to serve in Congress, all one needs to see is what he says about one who has called for the violent overthrow of the government.
Those who have been predicting (and reporting before the fact) Democratic doom have been citing polls that are predicated on low Democratic voter turnouts. We MUST make sure all vote on Tuesday.
If the last few elections have proven anything, when Democrats vote, Democrats win. If we turn out our vote on Tuesday, all these headlines reporting a Republican takeover as fact will resemble more the infamous 1948 Chicago Tribune headline, "Dewey Defeats Truman" than any accurate barometer of what could occur on Tuesday.
If ever we needed to win, we need to do so on Tuesday. Republican extremism must be stopped before it destroys our country.
