[Some posters post on deep issues like American servicemen being killed in Iraq. I rant and rave about epherema like decks of cards. It's just the way I am. Sorry.]
This is a plea to everyone, whether you be liberal, conservative or of any other ideology (or lack of one). Stop printing parody decks of the "52 Most Wanted Iraqi Officials" Cards. It was funny back in April, when it was fresh. Now it's just stale. The prime masters of this crap it seems is NewsMax, which I heartily endorse reading, just for the humor value. Now anyone familiar with NewsMax knows of the legendary obsession with Hillary Clinton and the fact that NewsMax hawks a copious amount of useless garbage. How grand it must be that NewsMax was able to metamorphize the two tendencies together to bring us: (Dum da da dum!) The Deck Of Hillary!
It's pretty damn pathetic, really. Here's a few samples from their pitch:
Sick of the media's puffery of Hillary Clinton and her new book in an obvious effort to help her presidential chances?
Now NewsMax.com has the perfect antidote to the liberal media's Hillary love fest: the Deck of Hillary.
That's right - the Deck of Hillary is a set of playing cards that will not only make you laugh out loud - it also blows the lid off her lies and her new book.
Well, it did make me laugh, but probably not for the reasons intended.
In the Deck of Hillary, NewsMax.com reveals the real Hillary - by using her own quotes. These quotations are even sourced to some of the most respected writers and media sources.
So what? You mean, as opposed to everything else NewsMax.com offers?
Let's see what these "respected" sources are from their sample cards.
The first quote is about something totally stupid like the fact that she became a Yankees fan while campaigning for the NY Senate. How damning.
The next quote's from a book called You Don't Say: [word ineligible] Liberals Show Their True Colors, published by "Freedom Books."
The third card has a purported "quote" from Barbara Olson's The Final Days.
Next comes a quote cited by Ann Coulter (Liar), who as we all know has never told a lie in her life.
Another quote from The Case Against Hillary Clinton by Peggy Loonan.
The next quote takes something she actually said about not being a "stay-at-home" wife and claims she said it about her "questionable ethics and business transactions in the 1980's."
So, yeah, we have one truthful quote from a respected source that hasn't been pulled out of context, and is about something absolutely trivial. Kinda sounds like the average NewsMax "news article".
In fact, NewsMax has a goal - we want to sell more Decks of Hillary than Hillary sells of her own book. It's a big goal - but with your help we can do it and tell the big media about our success...
Millions of Americans will use, play and read the Deck of Hillary - millions more than read her book!
And millions will agree, Hillary Clinton should never be president of the United States.
Don't hold your breath. And are they still flogging the "Hillary is planning to run for President" meme? For those not in the know, all the rightwingers are claiming that Hillary is secretly planning to run for President in 2004. And guess what? The Republicans need your money in order to combat her. It's kind of like phony televangelists who take your money for their "ministry" (i. e. their mansion).
In addition, I'm no Hillary fan, especially considering that, despite all the right-wing hysteria about her "ultra-leftism", she's largely a centrist Democrat who voted for the BushCo's war. However, one good thing that would happen if she wins the Presidency when she (probably) runs in 2008 (not 2004, morons) will be the hilarious reaction from places like NewsMax.com. The only way they'll be able to fight back is by printing up another deck of cards.
Oh yeah, the whole reason I came upon that turd was because I was voting in NewsMax's poll about the Grand Pillbaugh. You should be voting in it, too. (I won't deign to tell you how should vote or anything.) Click here.
