Bill Hager has been running for State Representative in Florida's 87th House District largely on the strength of his business experience. A recent mailer he sent out headlines the fact that he has the background and intention to "Run Government Like A Business".
You have to wonder whether that would be a business like the one he made millions on,NCCI, the one responsible for driving up workers compensation insurance rates for thousands of small businesses, while helping block thousands of injured workers' claims in court. Or maybe he means another kind of insurance company, like the corrupt and bailed-out AIG. Who knows?
Wanting government to be efficient and budget conscious, that makes sense. But the short-sighted, simplistic notion that government should therefore "be run like a business", well that brings us to another one of Bill Hager's "simple" plans.
Raw footage of an election forum appearance by Hager has just been supplied to the campaign of Hager's Democratic opponent, Palm Beach County prosecutor Hava Holzhauer, revealing Hager's version of a "simple" solution to Florida's unemployment crisis, in his own unedited words. When you look at the 1-minute YouTube video that the Holzhauer campaign has just released, you get a better idea of why Hager has been laying low and ducking any more such forum appearances in the final weeks of the race.
