Please explain why a Republican is going to win an open Senate seat in Ohio?
I look at Ohio and see a poor economy like Michigan (which has two solid Democrat senators).
Look at Cleveland, Toledo, Cincinnati, Canton, Youngstown and Akron and see cities that seem perfect fits to elect Democrats. Can someone explain why Cleveland alone cannot deliver enough votes for the Democrat to win?
The current Pollster.com average has the Republican Portman up over the Democrat Fischer 51.3% to 37.7%.
This is a short diary because I just want to know what is going on in Ohio. Ohio elects Sherrod Brown 2 years ago and now favors the Republican by over 10 percentage points. What is up with this state (which elected Bush over Kerry in 2004)?
Rather than speculate (poor state operations, poor Cuyahoga County operations, etc.) I am just asking and hoping someone who knows more about the state can enlighten me.
Thanks.
