Kentucky's 5th District has a choice this November. They can choose Hal Rogers, a politican who for the last 30 years has been voting against our interests, or a Progressive Democrat who stands ready to fight to end the wars, end free trade, and create a sensible national energy plan. I'm working my butt off to get Jim Holbert elected, going door to door in my deeply Republican county. But I will fight on and I will continue my effort to "Send Hal Home". All I ask is that you help me.
If you have kept up with my diaries of the last year, you know that fundraising has been a challenge for us. What we lack in finances, we more than make up for in volunteers and grassroots support. I am highly optimistic about this race and many many other Progressive activists in the district are as well. We are well on our way to unseating the King of Pork himself, Hal Rogers.
Don't know about Jim Holbert? Here's a video that will give you an idea of what kind of Democrat Jim Holbert is:
To those around the country who have been commenting, sharing and donating, I sincerely thank you. But this race is not over yet. We've got less than a month, and we're continuing to fight hard and strong. I know that a lot of you out there have not contributed because money is scarce. I understand.
On October 15th, we're looking to get 100 individuals to donate just $1 or more. Surely there will be 100 people reading this diary! You may ask yourself, "why bother"? Hal Rogers' pockets are lined with the dollars of big coal, big banks, and big business. We want to demonstrate that Jim Holbert has real grassroots support from across Kentucky and America.
Click here to pledge to donate $1 (or more) on October 15th via Facebook! If you can afford to donate more than $1, we certainly need it and appreciate it. But if you choose to only give the supportive $1 donation, that's perfectly acceptable too!
Please be sure to 'like' Jim Holbert's page on Facebook and follow him on Twitter!
