We have enjoyed the Wilton Gingerbread House for many years. This year we tried out the Halloween Version.
I had some trouble with the royal icing and weird angles of the assembly, and I had a fail:
So I whipped up some buttercream frosting and started over. I also told the kids the house would look more haunted with the broken spots ;-)
After the construction frosting dried a bit, I piped some buttercream in two colors (orange and purple) and the kids stuck on various decorations:
I will have to study Independent Mom's excellent diary on royal icing and construction techniques before the Christmas decorating starts.
