Obama in India, responding to a student who said:
"It seems that the American people have asked for a change."
The President
agreed that people vented their frustration about the economy by sacking many incumbents. A "healthy thing," he said, even though his Democratic Party suffered, losing control of one of the chambers in Congress. He said he would not retreat on spending money for energy and education, and offered no specific policy changes.
I'm thinking, Good! That sounds good. A good skill to learn is to listen to what your supporters are telling you.
And he said his staff read left blogostan, in that meeting with five bloggers five days before the election. So that means he must know that a lot of people think he could have fought a little for some other important things. So he's hearing us. Not just us, of course, but us nonetheless.
Two years in, but better late than never, and still two years to correct course ... and indeed,
he added that the election "requires me to make some midcourse corrections and adjustments."
Excellent! Only ...
"how those play themselves out over the next several months will be a matter of me being in discussions with the Republican Party."
... his course corrections will depend on him talking to ... Republicans.
I feel excellent, now. Yeah, fired up!
