As we wallow in post-election self-pity, self-criticism, self-abuse, circular firing squads, and occasional exercises in The science of ass-hesion (yes, that's how I want to spell that), I think it might serve to rally the troops to recall one of the basic truths of the political universe:
Republicans are crazy.
You must travel below the fold for examples, properly snarked.
Bryan Fischer, social conservative, wants to exterminate grizzly bears.
One human being is worth more than an infinite number of grizzly bears," Fischer writes. "Another way to put it is that there is no number of live grizzlies worth one dead human being. If it's a choice between grizzlies and humans, the grizzlies have to go. And it's time.
Fischer evidently believes that attacks by wild animals are an example of God cursing a nation. Therefore, we should kill all animals that are dangerous to humans.
First - are you saying we can protect ourselves from God by killing bears, Rev. Fischer? The last time I checked, the Maker of Heaven and Earth was bigger than a grizzly. Or even polar bears.
This is God disguised as a penguin:
Second - do you suppose that if God wants to get us for misusing his Creation, he might have numerous tools at His disposal? Like CLIMATE CHANGE, you cretin?

Darrell Issa plans hundreds of oversight hearings.
Issa's plan of 280 hearings in the next year would nearly triple the average annual number of hearings held by Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) during the Bush administration.
Evidently Rep. Issa intends to focus on wasting government money.

Oklahoma's constitutional amendment banning sharia law has been hit with a temporary injunction. Evidently some evul Muslin sued because, after all, this does tend to establish disapproval of his religion in the law.
The lawsuit was brought by Muneer Awad, the head of the Council on American-Islamic Relations Oklahoma chapter. In his lawsuit, Awad argues that the law violates his First Amendment rights by creating an "official disapproval of his faith" embedded in the state constitution. He also argues that the ban would make it impossible for his family to carry out his will, much of which is based on Islam.
We can't pray in schools because of the First Amendment. We can't read the Bible in schools for the same reason. Yet somehow those clever Muslims are going to impose sharia upon an entire state even though they are outnumbered 607 to one. BEWARE. THEIR POWERS ARE VAST.

Michigan Assistant DA was fired for using state resources to persecute a U of M student for the unthinkable crime of ... well, it's the love that dare not speak its name.
To be clear, I refuse to fire anyone for exercising their First Amendment rights, regardless of how popular or unpopular their positions might be. However, Shirvell repeatedly violated office policies, engaged in borderline stalking behavior, and inappropriately used state resources, our investigation showed
You can be crazy - just not on the taxpayer dollar. I also will bet that Mr. Shirvell has a larger collection of gay pr0n than Chris Armstrong.

In Arizona, which is clearly home to a special virus that causes extra craziness, the Tea Party has come out against recycling. Recycling evidently constitutes socialism.
A decision by the Fountain Hills Town Council to hire a single trash hauler and begin a curbside recycling program has been met with angry protests from residents who accuse town leaders of overstepping their bounds and taking a leap toward socialism.
Some even likened it to "Obamacare" for garbage, calling it "trashcare."
The mind reels. In general, I approve of having competition for things like garbage collection. But why the hell some group in Virginia thinks this is a national issue is beyond me.

So, there you have it. A few more reminders that we are not dealing with rational people.
