It certainly was an interesting experience. I've been polled before, but not by a conservative pollster. I guess this comes from living in a blue state, which by the way, is New York.
Anyway, when the computer told me that they were calling on behalf of Rasmussen, my ears perked up. I was happy to tell the story of a Democrat who thinks that things are going in the right direction, albiet slower than we would like.
It started out normally, what is your age, what party do you belong to, etc. The asked questions like, do you think things are getting better or worse for the country, are things getting better for you personally, how big is your employer, and do you think that your employer will be hiring or firing in the near future. They asked if I believe that we are currently in a recession. I pay attention. I know that the recession stopped a while ago and that the economy has been slowly growing. Things are better around me and my family as well. As I answered the questions, I was thinking that I wonder if all Democrats are similarly optimistic (again, not overly excited, but I believe that the worst is behind and it appears to me that those around me feel the same). Then, the computer just dropped me. No thanks for calling. No how much money do you make. Nothing.
It got me to wondering if this is how Rasmussen gets their skewed results. Based on my answers to the first 20 questions, they must realize that I'm not going to fit the "angry white" profile. I'm 46. I'm educated. I'm employed. And I'm hopeful. I wish that President Obama and the Democrats had gotten more done, but I am generally satisfied and will enjoy watching the Republicans shoot themselves in the foot for the next two years. Mid-term elections are always knee-jerk counter reactions to change elections. Things will swing back.
Anyway, has anyone else had the mysterious "dropped" robopoll? Just wondering.
